Untold History About Black Women Self Improvement Organization

By Cynthia Cook

Throughout the story of humankind, gender discrimination is probably the most sorrowful event that encompasses age, economic wealth and educational upbringing. Oftentimes, the women are the victims of this cultural phenomenon that is still felt around the world today. Perhaps this is the right time that we allow radical changes in this perception, especially that a black women self improvement group is organized to educate the people for a better change to the society.

If having knowledge gains you the power to control and reach your destiny, the same can be said to women who still suffer at the hands of a male dominated society. Most of us still perceive them to be second class citizens, who should only stay home and when married must take care of the children and their husbands. In this kind of mindset, they often experienced getting less respect, inability to make their own decisions and have a fatalistic view on their own lives.

If you read our history books, inequality is implicitly implied since the exploits of men are most often depicted while women are being sidelined or less mentioned. The latter have proven many times that they can be catalysts in the reformation of the society. From the start of agriculture to influencing the political affairs of the world, they have vast contributions which are sadly left below the footnotes of our textbooks.

In the field of science, they were proven to be the precursors of modern to advance way of thinking. We owe radioactivity by Marie Curie, Ada Lovelace for the birth of computer programming, Rosalind Franklin for discovering the shape of our DNA, Florence Nightingale for her nursing skills and Boudicca for leading the British forces against Roman invasion. These achievements are not miniscule to think about, and there are still many to mention here.

There is a growing movement and change of outlook that women can do what man has accomplished. If you look at the present workforce today, they are already many and some of them are even on vital company operations. Their abilities are not below or even at par with men who could set high standards to keep them afloat even in trying times.

These books will help us understand their impact today and how they could also be a pivotal catalyst on the economic, social, political, cultural, moral and spiritual dimension of all people. These will enlighten us that they also have the same rights on men, like having access to participate in religious, social, public activities, education and suffrage. In short, they are just as human as we are who share the same air that we breathe.

Some authors have also written some works depicting women as game changers in the society. These works will help us realize and understand that we need to open our minds towards these changes. In such manner could we ever achieve a world where everyone is equal and have basic human rights.

More than anything else, these pieces of literature will help us realize that it takes two sides to work together. Yet it is an observable reality that inequality still exists, especially in rural areas where traditional values and norms still prevail. Most likely factor also is that such places have limited access to media which could have educated a lot of people.

Give what is due to them so as to start having an altruistic kind of relationship towards them. Let us try to forgo the traditional way of looking at them, but rather be enlightened that they can contribute to our society as well. They are just as frail but firm as we are, so we are not so different from each other then.
