The Success Of Jungian Therapy

By Maria White

Freud and Jung were the forefathers of psychotherapy. They differed in their approach somewhat. Jung pulled away and developed other theories. As years went by, other theories have been developed. However, one always holds on to Freud and Jungian therapy. There are many different aspects to look at and this will vary from one person to the next.

However, there are also others that will debate why they have better effects on the patient. Many people say that this is more of a traditional approach. It has been used from the beginning and so many people have benefited from it. Other people will say that you have step forward and try other forms of therapy. They say that it can depend on the person and the situation.

Jung believed in the analysis of the patient which usually went back to their childhood years. This relates to these times and will also relate further down the line. It is very relevant in everything that you do. The way you have been brought up and the attention you have been given plays a great role in your adult life. This even relates to the bonding process that one has when they are an infant.

Although they may not remember this, they will have these memories stored in their subconscious. This is a really big factor that one has to take into consideration. It is the neglect and sense of abandonment that is so huge. When you feel this as a child, you will also feel this as a child. It can lead to a lack of confidence as well as a low self esteem.

Of course, there are always pros and cons. As the patients works more closely with the therapist, they move into a sense of wholeness. They learn more about themselves. This period of self discovery is very important because it helps one with their strengths and weakness. It will help them lead a healthy lifestyle. They will be more in tune to their relationships.

Many people don't look into a specific type of therapist. They may simply find that they are struggling in their life. It could be with depression or anxiety. Some people have issues in the home environment or in the work place. Stress always creeps in when you are not happy with yourself. You may feel that you are simply stuck and have many unanswered questions.

These are things that you have to look into and talk to the psychologist about. It is not easy to be vulnerable like this. Sometimes, more memories will come to the surface during this time. This is obviously not easy to deal with. However, you will be working in baby steps. The fact that you have this support is also a huge help.

It is not something that everyone is happy doing. In saying that, when you have the courage and the determination to get to this point, you will find that you can really begin to turn your life around. The therapy deals with the individual and the difference between the introvert and the extrovert. There is also the shadow that is so relevant in this approach. It seems like a dark part of the therapy, but it is actually realistic and something that is very powerful. Everyone has a shadow, and it can be advantageous. It depends on how you make use of this.
