Valuable Viewpoints Of Tempe Liberal Church

By Linda Kennedy

In the present world, there have been many attempts by the scholar to bring forth various interpretations of Christian religion but all the time with notable differences. There have also been attempts to bridge the gap, but still, there is a rift between the conservative and the modern liberals who have different views of the same scriptures. Following are some valuable viewpoints of Tempe liberal church.

The first to discuss is the authority of the religion as a true belief. Their perspective is that there is no sole authority powerhouse, but they acknowledge the contribution of modern knowledge and experience in interpretation of Holy Scriptures. They believe that Christianity should be modern and progressive thereby undergoing a sense of revolution in its way of interpretation thus relevant without being based on external authority.

They also have another task of revolving the world into a better place for everyone. This could be seen as a contrary view of the coming of a new fair world ruled by the Christ as sited in scriptures. They explain that they believe in the coming of such an authority but also wants people and more so Christians to create a good place for everyone rather than stay without doing anything.

It is also in their belief that this faith or religion should be dependable and relevant to the modern social setup. This means it should be promoting the ethical lifestyle and contributing to life issues. This will entail allowing modern intellect to support moral authority and concepts that are relevant to that given societal setup. It means the faith should be able to be felt even in the new context of world affairs.

They also divert the thought that only particular ways of truths are the sole truth, especially where presented in certain forms and symbols. They advocate for changes that will lead to more reasonable interpretation rather than symbolic or analogy that was presented by predecessors and made like the truth itself. They discourage adoration of symbols and forms as the real truths.

They also agree that the present disagreement about various judgments on faith truths is just the packaging but not lack of belief. This means that they could be talking about the same thing, but the constraints of language barrier or interpretation could be bringing the difficulties and controversies. They cite language as the base problem for disagreements but not the real belief.

It is also important to understand that historical accuracies of biblical facts and flow of events as presented in the bible are not the basis of faith. Their main concern is the general teaching of Christ in all those passages in the gospels. It is not about the accuracy of flow of events but the truths presented by each storyline or narration rather than its chronological order in various books.

The true religion is one that focuses on the way of Christ not on doctrines about Christ. By this, they mean that Christianity is a faith, not a doctrine that is set to interpret the existence of supernatural beings and such related thoughts. It is in accordance with thought that this religion is best seen as a way of Christ not what entails about him.
